Sri Sathya Sai Baba Avatar

Shirdi Sai and Sathya Sai are One and the Same
By Arjan D. Bharwani

58 THE STREAM FLOWS ON....

The river of instance, confirming the 'Oneness', has already become a forceful flow. However, some important tributaries that augment the onward traverse, should not be ignored. One such rivulet is the dream experience of Professor V. K. Gokak, a near and dear prominent devotee of Sri Sathya Sai. In a foreward of the book, "Life and Teachings of Sri Sai Baba of Shirdi" by Shri T.S. Anantha Murthy of Bangalore, Professor Gokak has narrated his dream in the following words, "I once dreamed that an old man was pursuing me with two pretty girls by his side, and he was persuading me to marry one of them. In my dream I did not wish to marry either of the m. But the old man was running after me, nimbler than myself and pleading that I should choose at least one of them. I was so annoyed with him that I lost my patience and said to him, "Who are you? Why are you pursuing me and persecuting me in this fashion? Where do you come from? "I came from Ahmednagar District", said the old man with a smile. This did not mean anything to me in my dream. Out of sheer fatigue and in order to get rid of the old man, I said that I would marry the younger one of the two. It was only when I woke up in the morning and remember the dream that I realized that it was Shirdi Baba that had come to me, for Shirdi is in Ahmednagar District, in Maharashtra. The purport of the dream had something to do with what Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba was planning for me. It was registered in a striking manner when the dream took a symbolic turn, bringing Shridi Baba into the dream instead of Sathya Sai".
