Eighth World
Conference
The 8th World
Conference of Sri Sathya Sai Organisations – Worldwide
on the theme Unity, Purity, Divinity got underway this
morning in the Sai Kulwant Hall in the immediate Divine
presence of Bhagawan. Bhagawan arrived in the jam-packed
Sai Kulwant Hall at 8:00 a.m., went for full round
before taking His seat on the dais to start the
proceedings for the inaugural session.
Sri Indulal Shah,
formerly World Chairman, Sri Sathya Sai Organisations –
Worldwide and currently Advisor to the International
Service Organisation expressed his profound gratitude to
Bhagawan for involving his fortunate devotees in the
raising course of His glorious Mission. Addressing the
delegates who have been drawn into the hall from 180
countries, he reiterated the breathtaking growth of the
Sri Sathya Sai Oganisations, the seed for which was sown
way back in 1965, which has now grown into a full fruit
laden tree with over 5000 centres in India and over 2000
centres overseas. He outlined Bhagawan's directive and
assurance to the Organisation, that the whole world will
be one huge Sathya Sai Organsation and Sathya Sai will
be installed in every heart. With the help of
transformation technology in a century which has been
dubbed as an era of 'information technology' he implored
the volunteers of the organization to plunge themselves
into holy task with zeal. Concluding his speech he gave
a beautiful insight into the realistic functioning of
the organization saying that the all the units of Sathya
Sai Organisations are connected through WWW, not world
wide web but, through Work Worship Wisdom.
Sri V. Srinivasan, All
Indian President of the Sri Sathya Sai Organisations,
who spoke next, reminded the delegates that, Bhagawan
does not expect wealth, position or any material objects
from us; he expects only love for fellow beings. He
highlighted that the role of Sri Sathya Sai Seva
Organisation in impacting the far reaching corners of
India through service and spirituality by following
Bhagawan's emphasis on quality and not on quantity
should be our guideline. He then assured Bhagawan on
behalf of all that the organization would concentrate on
the individual to reach out to the world. He concluded
with offering his gratitude to the Lord for the
unmatched facilities arranged by Bhagawan for the
delegates of the conference.
The third speaker, Dr.
Michael Goldstein, Chairman – Prasanthi Council,
overseeing body of the activities of Sri Sathya Sai
Organisations – Worldwide, spoke briefly about the
growth and activities of the organization in overseas
countries. He posed the following important questions
relevant to the growth of the individual and the
organization as a whole. We, who are imperfect join
together to achieve perfection in the world. How to
realize the concept of Unity, Purity and Divinity as an
organization? He further prayed at His Lotus feet that
His grace is needed to achive the goals of the
organization. He quoted words pregnant with spiritual
wisdom of great scientists like Einstein. He emphasized
to have a perspective of Unity, Experience of Purity &
Blliss of Divinity which is the goal of the conference.
He said, in the name of Divinity work unitedly and with
Purity of intention, thought, word and deed.
Mr. Leonardo Gutter, a
senior official of Sri Sathya Sai Organisations – Latin
America region, narrated his experience with Bhagawan,
the undercurrent of which was, of course, love and His
assurance, "I will never disappoint my devotees". He
mentioned that there are Sai devotees in every Latin
American country, and recounted his experiences in
various countries.
All the Sai

Conference of Sri Sathya Sai Organisations
…on the theme:
Unity…Purity…Divinity
A Curtain
Raiser…………..
Unity leads to Purity.
Where there is Purity, there is Divinity. Only through
Unity, Purity and Divinity can you experience Bliss. –
Baba
Bhagawan exhorts that
Unity, Purity and Divinity are not three distinct
things, but three stages of spiritual progress in our
human sojourn. A human life wasted consists of wandering
from one pleasure and worldly pursuit to another, none
conferring lasting peace or joy, none resulting in a
life well lived, none resulting in the fulfillment of
our profound purpose.
The human life worth
living is a spiritual progression through Unity, Purity
and Divinity. Being One, knowing who you truly are is
spiritual Unity. Removing the distractions that result
from our animal nature, the desire for power and
pleasure that are intrinsic to these human mind and
bodies is spiritual Purity. Living in Love, constant,
enduring and all encompassing Love is Divinity realized.
Bhagawan's teachings
inspire us to cast off the shroud of delusion and enable
us to live without a shadow of doubt. Unity of thought,
word and deed puts us in command of our worldly selves.
We subdue the worldly pretenders, so that we the real
We, prevail. We achieve Purity by removing the cardinal
enemies, the contaminants – lust, anger, greed, pride,
attachment and jealousy – from ourselves. Then We, the
real We, can walk in the sun of Divine Light and Love.
How do we gain this
quintessential command? We put aside the distractions of
our meddlesome minds and the interference of our
incessant desires. Our thoughts, words and deeds,
actually our bodies and our minds are surrendered to the
dictates of our conscience. Our conscience is the Light
of Love, the illumination of Divinity that emanates from
our spiritual hearts. Thus Spiritual Unity and Purity
are achieved.
Agenda for the
Conference

Ladies' Day
evening session
Everyone was eagerly
awaiting the Lord's arrival for the evening session, and
there emerged Bhagawan out of His abode, at 4.20 p.m to
be majestically led into the Sai Kulwant Hall by the
bands of Anantapur Campus of the University and of the
Primary School. As He arrived on the specially decorated
dais of the Hall, Smt. Kavita Subramaniam (formerly
Kavita Krishnamurthy), renowned playback singer, was
ready with a bouquet of songs to offer at His Lotus Feet
as a part of the Ladies' Day celebrations.
To feast the eyes with
the beautiful form of the Lord while the ears fill
themselves with heavenly music is really an overwhelming
experience for the soul. When Smt. Kavita Subramaniam
sang those melodious songs in her mellifluous voice, the
audience had a heavenly experience. One could see many
singing along with her or joining her in chorus. Such
was the effect that many were spellbound by her songs.
She began her recital
with the famous song, "Janam Diya Tune Sai Ko …",
referring to Mother Easwaramma because of whom we have
the Lord in our midst, a song befitting the occasion
too. To name a few of her other songs – "Mein Aayi Thi
Darshan Paane …" (I came for your Darshan …), Meine Prem
Ki Jyoti Jalayi … (I lit the lamp of love …") The
audience of their own accord found themselves joining
the chorus in the song while keeping the rhythm with
their hands. She also sang the ever famous number
Dhanyavaad Seva Ka Avsar Paya … (I got an opportunity to
do service, I am extremely grateful …) She also sang
some Bhajans -"Nanda Nandana Hari Govinda Gopala …",
"Raghupati Raghava Raja Ram …" and "Antaranga Sai Anatha
Natha Sai …" One lost the track of time listening to her
songs and Bhajans.
After this
soul-stirring performance, girl students of Primary
School gave a dance performance. They danced to the song
which described the beautiful features of the Lord, His
love and His compassion. At the end of their
performance, Bhagawan gave them the coveted opportunity
of being photographed with Him. He posed for photographs
with the Primary School Band group. Bhagawan also
created a ring for Sri L. Subramaniam, who accompanied
Smt. Kavita Subramaniam with his violin during her
performance. Bhagawan personally distributed Prasadam to
all the photographers who were responsible for these
cherished moments to be captured for posterity.
Then all eyes were
riveted to the bus Sri Sathya Sai Mobile Clinic
stationed in the Hall, as an announcement was made that
it was an air-conditioned bus with state-of-the-art
medical equipment for treatment. The bus contains an
X-ray unit, ultra sound scanner, automatic film
processor, binocular microscope, opthalmoscope,
otoscope, retinoscope, foldable simple table for x-ray,
foldable screen with stand and LCD projector. These are
only some of the sophisticated equipment in the bus for
providing advanced medical treatment on the move. After
this announcement, Arati was offered to Bhagawan and
then He retired for the day.
Thus ended the joyous
celebrations of Ladies' Day at Prasanthi Nilayam.
