Experiences by Devotees of Sri Sathya Sai Baba

  The devotee and the sevadal

This happened in the early 70s and it was the time of Dasara. A procession of Vedic Pundits started from Mandir to the Poornachandra Auditorium with Swami coming way behind all of them that the devotees might get a good glimpse of Him. Suddenly Swamy looks at one devotee and blesses him smiles and walks away majestically. That devotee darts out of the crowd and catching hold of a sevadal and asks him ecstatically: 'Do you know it is the Brahma-the Creator, himself who is walking down the path?' The sevadal looks down pityingly at the excited man and uncomprehendingly says, 'but, that is why we are all here on this day. isn't it?' The devotee shakes his head as though he was finding it difficult to explain to him what exactly he had in his mind. He calls the sevadal aside and takes him to a hillock nearby and pointing to a boulder the size of 10' X 8' and asked him if he could see the boulder. When the Sevadal replied in the affirmative, the devotee requested him to close his eyes and few moments later when he opened them, he found only small pebbles in the place of the boulder. Then the devotee explained. I have done penance in the himalayas for a long period and have got the power to use Brahmastra. When I heard that 'The Lord' had come down to the earth, i could not believe it and so came to test him. 'When i saw him come out of the Madir, i concentrated and with proper incantation hurled the Brahmastra at 'The lord'. I had used only a fraction of the power to pulverise the boulder. But 'The lord took the whole power of the Brhmastra without even flinching and on top of that turned towards me and even blessed me. Only 'The Lord can take this and none else can.' Saying this, he broke down. The sevadal was left to wonder what miracles take place in the mere act of Swami's moving about the devotees in the pretext of DARSHAN.
