Swami Gopala Krishna Baba and His Relationship with the Avatar Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba

Swami Golapa Krishna Baba is one of the numerous saints and swamis, either living or non-living, who have stated and testified about the Divine Incarnation of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

Here follows excerpts taken from the Gopala Krishna Baba website:

Biography

Gopal Krishna was born to Sri. Venkatramanaiah and Smt. Yamunamma, in the auspicious Hindu month of Kartik, on 6th November 1951. He was very different from the other children and showed a great interest in spirituality. Seldom did he had interest for worldly games and worldly education. He used to make little statues of different gods and goddesses with clay, decorate them and conduct prayers whilst the other children were busy playing games. He was ever soft spoken and kind. He could not see the misery of human beings and animals and would care for them lovingly. Love had been the corner stone of his life from a very tender age.

His father used to take him to Prashanthi Nilayam (Puttaparthi) and Brindavan (Whitefield, Bangalore) for the divine darshan of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Young Gopal used to yearn for this trip very fervently. Whenever Gopal went to Prashanthi Nilayam (Puttaparthi), Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba would invariably call Him for an interview. On one such occasion in the year 1966, Baba held Gopal's hands in His own and urged Gopal to ask for whatever he wanted. Gopal did not reply because he was now beyond any wants and he was detached from all worldly objects. Gopala Krishna had resolved to devote his life at the Lotus Feet of the Divine Avathar and towards the living and teaching of the Divine Word of Sai.

Sai Mandiram is a temple where Shirdi Sai and Sathya Sai both are worshipped. This is a unique mandir where two manifestations of Sai are worshipped at one place. In this temple people of all faiths come and offer worship. There is no discrimination between sexes and Sri Gopal Krishna Baba extends his unbounded love to both human beings and animals alike. Sai Mandiram is situated in the peaceful and well-developed locales of Girinagar. All are welcome in the Sai Mandiram and Sri Gopal Krishna Baba helps all devotees who come with sufferings to achieve mental peace. People who suffer from wants, mental illnesses, physical ailments and financial difficulties come here and derive satisfaction. Sri Gopala Krishna Baba attributes this to the divine Love of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

The very existence of this temple is a unique expression and establishment of the omnipresence of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. In the year 1990, Gopala Krishna visited Prashanti Nilayam (Puttaparthi) for the 65th birthday celebrations of Bhagawan Baba. Millions had gathered to have a glimpse of Baba and Gopala Krishna could not have a satisfactory darshan of the Lord. This incident diminished the craving of being physical in the presence of the Lord. Gopala Krishna made a Divine wish (Sankalpa) to experience only the ever present aspect of Sai Baba as Love and Light which is much more lasting and satisfying. Even today Gopal Krishna Baba urges all to develop the Inner Sai rather than crave for the physical presence of Sathya Sai Baba. This intense inner craving resulted in the Physical appearance (Sakshatkar) of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba in the Sai Mandiram.

In the midst of a very intense and devoted bhajan session, Bhagawan Baba manifested Himself physically before Gopala Krishna Baba on 23rd November 1991 and materialized His Atma Linga, or the Chandra Moulishwara Linga and gave it to Gopala Krishna Baba. He also instructed Gopala Krishna Baba to perform the Rudhrabhishekh to the sacred linga on every Monday and distribute the holy consecrated sacred water (Tirtham) to the people. This is being done continuously from 1991 onwards without a break. There are innumerable instances where people have been cured of mental and physical ailments by partaking of the consecrated water. The linga is elliptical in shape. The full moon is depicted in the background with the "Jattha" (tuft of hair) of Shiva in the foreground. Anil Kumar narrated this incidence in the Divine presence of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba and the same was also published in "Sanathana Sarathi" (official magazine of the Sri Sathya Sai Organisation) in the month of July 1992.

Prema Tattwa, the Principle of Eternal Love Swami Gopala Krishna Baba's special message

When the mind is turned towards Love and Peace harmony exists between all creatures. The purpose of Sri Sathya Sai Avatar (the incarnation of Sathya Sai Baba) is to promote Peace. Nature and Man should live in harmony with Love. Where there is Love, there can be no destruction. When Love increases in human beings, destructive tendencies will end. Evil and destructive tendencies manifest in the form of destructive actions whilst Love manifests in the form of Peace. Love all, serve all.

Baba's Self-Realized Devotees

Baba is said to have many Self-Realized devotees quietly doing His work in various locations around the globe. So far I?ve personally met four of them ? and to my mind, nothing proves Baba?s perfection more clearly than His divinized devotees. (As Jesus said, ?By their fruits you shall know them." These are very sweet mangoes!)

Gopalakrishna Baba

The first is a man named Gopala Krishna Baba, who lives in a small Sai Baba temple in Bangalore. His parents were ardent Sai devotees, but from his early childhood Gopalakrishna was intensely drawn to the local Sri Ramakrishna Temple, where he would spend all his time absorbed in devotion and meditation, cherishing the dream of becoming a monk in the Sri Ramakrishna order. He became so immersed in God that he almost never felt the need to sleep, and would remain awake throughout the night repeating the Divine Name. In his mid-teens, when Gopalakrishna was alone in the house one day, vibhuti began miraculously manifesting on Sai Baba?s photos in his parents? puja room, leaving a strong impression on the young man. Soon afterwards He visited Baba?s ashram, and, as he tells it, ?My heart instantly recognized in Sai Baba the same Divine Being who had lived as Sri Ramakrishna.? His devotion for Baba soon became the overwhelming force in his life, and in the coming years he often visited Baba?s ashrams, and received many blessings from Him. However, in 1990, when Gopalakrishna went to Baba?s ashram for the Birthday celebrations, due to the massive crowds he was unable to see Baba the way he wished, and therefore told Baba internally, ?Next year I will celebrate Your Birthday in my own home, so please come there to receive my worship!? Clearly the Lord was listening, for the next year on Baba?s birthday, while Gopalakrishna was performing a puja in his home, Baba suddenly appeared before him in a living form, manifested a beautiful Lingam, and gave it to Gopalakrishna, an event witnessed by others. In those precious divine moments Baba told him, ?Every Monday, perform worship to this Lingam. I am with you always.?

And so it is. Gopalakrishna is now established in changeless Peace, knows the thoughts of all around him, and possesses many miraculous powers. His foremost Western disciple, a beautiful man from Holland, told me an interesting miracle story. It seems that on one of his first trips to India, he had come down with dysentery, and when he reported to Gopalakrishna that the medicine prescribed by a doctor could not be found in the local shops, Gopalakrishna simply waved his hand and instantly manifested a strip of the required tablets. Some people have reported that by drinking the water used in Gopalakrishna?s worship of the Lingam they have been healed of long-standing diseases; others say they have had their personal problems solved, while others say that his grace has enabled them to find the most precious gem of all, peace of mind. It seems that Gopalakrishna Baba is a genuine wish-fulfilling tree.
